After creating all the KPI panels for your custom dashboard, the layout may appear cluttered since all KPIs are initially stacked together by default. Organizing your dashboard into groups is the next step to make your data easier to analyze, compare, and act on.
This guide walks you through how to organize your Custom Dashboard efficiently using the latest layout and drag-and-drop tools in Practice IQ.
Why Organize into Groups?
Creating KPI groups allows you to:
Quickly locate related data (e.g., Provider Production vs. Hygiene Production)
Compare metrics side by side
Keep the dashboard clean and navigable for everyone
Step-by-Step: Organize Your Custom Dashboard
1. Enter Edit Mode
To get started, you’ll need to open the dashboard editor.
Either click the pencil icon ✏️ next to your Custom Dashboard name
ORClick the three dots ⋮ at the top right of the dashboard, then select Edit
This unlocks options like grouping KPIs and rearranging panels.
2. Add a New Group
Click the "Add Group" button. A new empty group will appear at the bottom of your dashboard.
You can:
Create as many groups as you'd like
Drag and drop KPIs from the original stacked group into your new group
Rename the group for clarity (e.g., “Provider Production”, “Hygiene KPIs”, “Crown Metrics”)
3. Rearrange KPIs
Use drag-and-drop to move panels between groups. Just hover over a panel and drag it to the appropriate section.
In the example below:
Provider KPIs are grouped together
Crown Production KPIs and graphs are in their own section
4. View and Compare KPIs Easily
Once organized:
KPIs like Avg Production/Day (adj) by provider are grouped for comparison
Crown production totals and trends have their own dedicated section
This makes it much easier to analyze trends or identify outliers.
