Follow the steps below to set up your Castles S1F2 terminal and ensure it’s ready to process payments.
Note: The Castles S1F2 terminal supports swipe and tap transactions only.
Step 1: Review the Terminal and Accessories
Before getting started:
Confirm that you’ve received the correct terminal from Practice by Numbers.
Check that all accessories (such as the charging cable and receipt paper roll) are included and in good condition.
If anything appears damaged or missing, contact Customer Support before proceeding.
Step 2: Power On the Terminal
Plug the terminal into a power source using the supplied charger.
Press and hold the power button until the screen turns on.
It’s recommended to let the device charge for at least four hours before use.
Step 3: Complete the Initial Setup
On the Welcome screen, select your preferred language.
Tap the arrow icon to continue.
Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi
On the Setup Wi-Fi screen, tap the “+” icon.
When prompted to enable Wi-Fi scanning, tap “TURN ON”, then use the back arrow at the top of the screen to return to the Wi-Fi menu.
Tap “Use Wi-Fi” to activate the terminal’s Wi-Fi capabilities.
Select your network from the list, or tap the “+” icon to manually enter the network name (SSID).
Enter your Wi-Fi password, then tap “CONNECT.”
Once connected, tap “OK.”
Select Wi-Fi Preferences, then enable “Turn on Wi-Fi automatically.”
Use the back button to return to the main menu.
Step 5: Cellular Failover (3G/4G)
The terminal includes a pre-installed and activated SIM card. If your Wi-Fi connection drops, the terminal will automatically switch to a cellular network to ensure continued payment processing.
Step 6: Initial Software Sync
When the terminal is powered on for the first time—or after being off for an extended period—it may perform a maintenance sync. This includes configuration updates and may take 20–30 minutes to complete.
The terminal will continue charging during this time if connected to power.
Step 7: Turning the Terminal On and Off
To turn on the terminal: Press and hold the power button. When the dialog box appears, tap “Power On.”
To turn off the terminal: Press and hold the power button, then tap “Power Off.”
