Resetting Your Password in PbN

If a user in your practice forgets their password, an administrator can reset it through the User Accounts settings. The user will receive an email and a Practice Code Word to complete the reset.

Follow the steps below to reset a password in Practice by Numbers (PbN).


For Administrators: How to Reset a User’s Password

If you need to reset a password for any user in your practice, follow these steps:

Step 1: Log in to Practice by Numbers

  1. Log in with your administrator credentials.


Step 2: Access the User Accounts Page

  1. Click on the menu in the upper-right corner.

  2. Navigate to Practice Settings.

  3. Select User Accounts.


Step 3: Reset the Password

  1. Locate the user whose password needs to be reset.

  2. Click Reset Password.

  3. This will trigger an email with a password reset link to the user and a text with the practice code word if a valid cell phone number is available for the user.


Step 4: Share the Practice Code Word

  1. The Practice Code Word is displayed at the top of the User Accounts page.

  2. Share the Practice Code Word with the user in person or via phone.

  3. Do not send the code manually via email or text for security reasons.


Step 5: User Receives the Password Reset Email and Practice Code Word via Text

  • The user will receive an email containing a password reset link.

  • The link will expire in 3 days.

  • To complete the reset process, the user must enter the Practice Code Word. If a valid cell phone number is available, the code word will be sent via text.

📌 Important: If the user does not receive the password reset email, check their email settings or verify that the correct email address is registered in PbN.


For Users: How to Reset Your Password

If you requested a password reset or received an email from your administrator, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Password Reset Email

  • Look for an email from Practice by Numbers with the subject "Reset Your Password."

  • Open the email and click the password reset link.

📌 If you do not see the email, check your Spam or Junk folder.


Step 2: Enter the Practice Code Word

Along with the email, you will receive a text message (SMS) with a Practice Code Word.

📌 If you do not receive the SMS, contact your practice administrator.

  1. Enter the Practice Code Word from the SMS on the password reset page.

  2. Click Verify to proceed.


Step 3: Set a New Password

  1. Enter your new password in the provided field.

  2. Confirm the password by entering it again.

  3. Click Save Password.


Step 4: Log in with Your New Password

After successfully resetting your password:

  1. Return to the Practice by Numbers login page.

  2. Enter your email address and your new password.

  3. Click Login.


Troubleshooting & FAQs

Didn’t receive the password reset email?

  • Check your Spam/Junk folder.

  • Verify with your practice administrator that your email is correct in the system.

Didn’t receive the SMS with the Practice Code Word?

  • Ensure your phone number is correct in the system.

  • If needed, ask an authorized administrator for the code.

Reset link expired?

  • The reset link is valid for 3 days. If it expires, you can request a new password reset from your administrator.
