Preview a Custom Payment Plan Request Before Sending

Written by Alyssa Elso

When offering payment plan options to a patient, it's important to ensure the plans being presented align with your practice's expectations before the request is sent.

The Preview feature allows your team to review the payment plans exactly as they will appear to the patient. This gives staff an opportunity to verify installment amounts, payment schedules, discounts, and overall presentation before the patient receives the request.

By previewing the payment plan request, your practice can help reduce errors, avoid confusion, and be confident that patients are seeing the intended payment options.

Benefits of Previewing a Payment Plan Request

Before sending a Custom Payment Plan Request, you can use Preview to:

  • Confirm the payment plans being presented to the patient

  • Verify down payments, installment amounts, and payment schedules

  • Review any discounts and savings displayed on the plan

  • Ensure the patient experience matches your expectations

  • Catch potential mistakes before the request is sent

Tip: The preview displays the same three payment plan cards that patients will see, making it easy to review the experience from the patient's perspective.

How to Preview a Custom Payment Plan Request

  1. Navigate to Payments from the left-hand menu.

  2. Select Payment Plans.

  3. Open an existing Custom Payment Plan Request or create a new one.

  4. Add at least one payment plan option.

  5. Click Preview.

The preview screen will open, displaying the payment plans to be presented to the patient.

What You'll See in the Preview

The preview displays the three payment plan cards that will be shown to the patient. These are the plans selected by PbN to provide the patient with the most relevant payment options.

Each plan card includes:

Plan Information

  • Plan name or label

  • Plan description

Plan Details

  • Down payment amount

  • Number of installments

  • Monthly installment amount

Payment Schedule

  • First payment date

  • Payment frequency

  • Final payment date

Total Cost

  • Total amount due

  • Discounted price (if applicable)

  • Savings amount (if applicable)

What Is Not Shown in the Preview

The preview is intended as a review tool and does not allow changes to be made directly from the preview screen.

The preview does not display:

  • A Select Plan button

  • Any plans that were not selected for the patient

  • Details about how plans were ranked or chosen

Only the payment plans that will be presented to the patient are shown.

Navigating the Preview Screen

The breadcrumb navigation at the top of the page shows: Payment Plans > Custom Payment Plan Request > Preview

To return to the request:

  • Click Back, or

  • Use the breadcrumb navigation

If you make changes to the available plan options after previewing, select Preview again to review the updated patient experience before sending.

Important Notes

  • The Preview button becomes available after at least one payment plan option has been added.

  • Previewing a request does not send any communication to the patient.

  • The feature is available only before the request is sent.

  • The preview uses the same plan card layout that patients will see when selecting a payment plan.

  • If changes are made to the request, preview it again to verify the updated information before sending.
