  1. Can I surcharge the patient with payment plans?
    No, surcharges cannot be applied to patients on payment plans.

  2. How can I recover the card processing fee for payment plan payments?
    Instead of a surcharge, you can add a management fee to cover card processing costs or additional expenses, such as account handling or an interest rate. This fee can be included in the payment plan terms and applied to the total installment amount.

  3. Can I use Stripe for payment plans?
    No, Stripe cannot be used for payment plans. You must have the PbN Payment service configured on your account to enable payment plans.

  4. What types of plan options are available?
    We offer two options: Pay in Full (one-time upfront payment) and Installments (split payments over a period).

  5. Is Pay in Full considered a payment plan?
    No, Pay in Full is not technically a payment plan. However, using this feature allows you to offer a discount to customers who choose to pay the full amount upfront.

  6. Can I pass a surcharge amount for the Pay in Full plan?
    Yes, you can pass a surcharge amount for the Pay in Full plan, provided your state laws allow it and you have configured the surcharge rate so that the customer pays it.

  7. What’s the card processing fee rate for payment plan installments?
    The card processing fee for payment plan installments is a flat rate as specified in your contract. If the practice charges a patient via in-office POS, the POS card processing rate will be applied.

  8. Can payment plans be modified after they’ve started?
    In most cases, payment plans can be modified after they’ve started. You can modify the installment date and amount, but the installment amount will be adjusted for the remaining installments.

  9. Is there a penalty for missed payments?
    Currently, there is no mechanism for penalties for missed payments, and any issues need to be settled offline.
