Product Release – May 2026

Written by Alyssa Elso

We’re excited to introduce the latest updates from Practice by Numbers! This release brings expanded integrations, improved payment flexibility, enhanced patient transparency, and better tracking tools to help practices operate more efficiently and make smarter business decisions.

Practice by Numbers now integrates with Dentrix Ascend, giving practices deeper visibility into the operational and performance data already flowing through their PMS.

With this integration, practices can:

  • Identify where production may be slipping

  • Uncover scheduling and follow-up gaps

  • Better understand front desk performance

  • Access real-time analytics and actionable insights

Built to work seamlessly with existing Ascend environments, the integration improves efficiency, accountability, and growth without disrupting current workflows or requiring data migration.

Great systems work even better together. If you know a practice using Dentrix Ascend, share the good news with them!

Practices can now track how marketing campaigns directly influence booked appointments using our new Google Tag Manager (GTM) enhancement for Online Booking.

This feature tracks important booking actions such as:

  • Booking Started

  • Booking Completed

The data can then be sent to platforms like:

  • Google Ads

  • Facebook Ads

  • Other marketing platforms supported through GTM

This enhancement helps practices better understand ROI, optimize ad spend, and measure conversions beyond simple clicks.

Practices can now control whether patients are allowed to make partial payments on Pending Balance payment requests.

Using the new “Pay a Different Amount” setting, teams can choose between:

  • Allowing flexible partial payments

  • Requiring full balance collection in a single transaction

This enhancement helps practices:

  • Improve collection consistency

  • Reduce follow-up on outstanding balances

  • Standardize the payment experience across:

    • Email requests

    • SMS requests

    • Direct payment links

All settings are managed centrally through Payment Automation Settings.

What This Does Not Affect

This update does not impact:

  • Custom Amount payment requests

  • Payment Plans

  • Point-of-sale (POS) payments

  • In-office payment workflows

Practices using PbN Payments can now view a patient’s saved payment methods directly from the Patient Profile.

The new Cards on File section displays:

  • Card type

  • Last four digits

  • Expiration date

  • Default payment method

This enhancement allows front office teams to quickly verify billing information without navigating to the Payments section.

Because the section stays synced in real time with PbN Payments, practices gain faster access to payment information while keeping billing workflows centralized and secure.

Practices can now control whether patients see an AI-generated explanation of their outstanding balance within the Online Payment Portal.

When enabled, the AI Summary provides patients with a plain-language overview of:

  • Associated visits

  • Completed services

  • Overdue balances

  • Payment-related context

This helps reduce confusion and improve transparency during the payment experience.

The feature appears directly within the e-statement section alongside itemized account activity and can be enabled or disabled practice-wide through Payment Automation Settings.

This gives teams greater control over how billing information is communicated to patients and creates a clearer, more informative payment experience.
