View Saved Payment Methods from a Patient Profile

Written by Alyssa Elso

Practices using PbN Payments can now view a patient’s saved payment methods directly from the patient profile without navigating to the Payments section. The Cards on File section displays all saved cards for the patient and clearly identifies which card is currently set as the default.

Note: This feature is only available for practices with PbN Payments enabled. If your practice does not use PbN Payments, the Cards on File section will not appear.

Where to Find Saved Payment Methods

To view a patient’s saved cards:

  1. Open the patient’s profile

  2. Click the Account tab

  3. Scroll down to the Cards on File section

What Information Is Displayed

The Cards on File section provides a quick view of the patient’s saved payment methods, including:

  • Card brand (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)

  • Last 4 digits of the card number

  • Expiration date

  • Default card indicator showing which card is currently set as the default payment method

If the patient has multiple saved cards, you can expand the section to view the full list.

Managing Saved Cards

The Cards on File section is a read-only view, meaning cards cannot be added, edited, or removed directly from this section.

To manage payment methods:

  1. Click Manage Cards

  2. You will be redirected to Payments → Payment Methods for that patient

From there, you can:

  • Add a new card

  • Remove an existing card

  • Change the default card

Any updates made in Payment Methods will automatically appear in the Cards on File section in real time.

Important Notes

  • The Cards on File section pulls information directly from PbN Payments

  • The information shown will always match the patient’s records in Payments → Payment Methods

  • If a patient does not have any saved cards, the section will appear empty

  • This section is only visible for practices with PbN Payments enabled
