The Patient Growth Chart, provides a comprehensive visualization of patient growth trends. Practices can track growth, reactivation, and attrition metrics over time. This guide explains the chart elements, key KPIs, and how to use the toolbar tools for effective data analysis.

You can access the Patient Growth Chart by navigating to:

PracticeIQ > Home > Patient Retention KPI panel > Open Details Panel

and PracticeIQ > Home > Advanced > Patient Flow

Chart Components Explained

  1. New Patients Seen

    • Represented in blue bars (lighter blue) , these are new patient seen during the selected period.

    • This metric reflects the success of patient acquisition efforts and contributes to overall growth.

  2. Reactivated Patients (KPI - Patients Reactivated)

    • Shown as a darker blue bar segment stacked on top of New Patients.

    • Reactivated patients are those who were inactive but have returned, providing insights into re-engagement effectiveness.

  3. Inactivity Patients (KPI - Inactive due to No Appointment)

    • Displayed in pink bars below the zero line, representing patients with no appointments in last 18 months who are considered inactive.

    • Identifying these patients can help practices target outreach efforts to encourage reactivation.

  4. Inactivated Patients (KPI - Deactivated in PMS)

    • Shown in red bars below the zero line, representing patients who have been deactivated in the practice management system (PMS).

    • This segment helps practices keep track of attrition.

  5. Net Growth (Blue Line)

    • A blue line overlay showing net patient growth by month.

    • Calculated by comparing additions (new and reactivated) with losses (inactivated).

  6. Running Active Patients (Green Line)

    • Green line overlay showing the cumulative total of active patients.

    • This line gives an ongoing count of the active patient base, crucial for tracking growth trends.

Net Growth Calculation:

  1. Add the number of new patients and reactivated patients

  2. Subtract the number of inactivity patients and inactivated patients

Example:

  • New Patients Seen: 45

  • Reactivated Patients: 9

  • Inactivity Patients (Inactive due to No Appt): 40

  • Inactivated Patients (Deactivated in PMS): 2

Net Patient Growth = (New Patients Seen + Reactivated Patients) - (Inactivity Patients + Inactivated Patients)

Net Patient Growth = (45 + 9) - (40 + 2) = 54 - 42 = 12 patients

Using the Chart for Practice Growth Insights

With the Patient Growth Chart and toolbar tools, practices can:

  • Spot trends in patient acquisition by observing New Patients.

  • Track patient reactivation efforts and monitor if outreach campaigns are effective.

  • Identify and reduce patient inactivity by targeting patients who have not booked recent appointments.

  • Manage and understand attrition by reviewing Inactivated Patients.

  • Measure ongoing patient base through the Running Active Patients metric.

Using these insights, practices can make informed decisions to improve patient retention, enhance engagement, and achieve growth goals. Also chart's flexibility with adjustable date ranges makes it particularly valuable for both short-term monitoring and long-term strategic planning. It provides a comprehensive view that can inform decisions about practice management, marketing efforts, and capacity planning.
