Time Windows allow Enterprise Security practices to control when users can access Practice by Numbers. This feature helps reduce after-hours access and supports internal security and compliance policies.

Where to Find Time Windows

Go to: New Settings > General > Security Management > Time Windows

What Are Time Windows?

Time Windows define approved login hours by day of the week.

They can be applied to:

  • Specific roles

  • Individual users

Access outside of these windows is automatically blocked.

Creating Time Windows

Administrators can:

  • Set allowed start and end times per day

  • Add descriptions (e.g., Office Hours)

  • Import office hours for faster setup

Multiple time windows can be created and edited as needed.

Enforcing Time Restrictions

Time restrictions are enforced from: Security Management > General Settings

Once enabled, selected users or roles can only log in during approved times.

User Experience: Access Restricted Screen

If a user attempts to log in outside their allowed time window, they will see:

  • A message explaining access is restricted

  • The current date and time

  • Their approved access times

Users can retry access once the time window opens or check again later.

Best Practices

  • Apply time windows to non-clinical roles

  • Align access hours with office schedules

  • Combine with IP restrictions for layered security

Summary

Time Windows give practices precise control over system access hours, reducing risk while maintaining transparency for users.
