The Public Payment Portal allows patients to pay their balances securely—without needing to log in to the full Patient Portal. This is a fast and convenient way for patients to pay outstanding balances, especially for active payment plans. Practices can share this portal link directly with patients via email, text, or other communication channels.

Patient Journey Overview

Here’s what patients will experience when using the Public Payment Portal:

1. Accessing the Portal

Patients click on the Public Payment Portal link provided by your practice. This link opens a secure payment page associated with their account.

To log in, patients must enter:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Date of Birth

2. Viewing Active Plans & Balances

Once logged in, patients will see:

  • A summary of active payment plans

  • Their total outstanding balance

  • The next installment due date for each plan

⚠️ Note: Patients can’t open a full plan view from the portal, but essential details are visible on the main page.

3. Payment Options

Patients can choose to:

  • Pay Next: Make a payment for the upcoming scheduled installment

  • PayOff: Pay off the entire remaining balance of a plan

4. Submitting a Payment

When the patient clicks “Pay” next to a plan:

  • They’re taken to a secure payment page

  • They enter card information

  • Then click “Pay” to complete the transaction

5. Confirmation & Receipt

After payment:

  • A confirmation screen appears

  • Patients can download a receipt for their records directly from this page

Key Takeaways for Practices

  • The Public Payment Portal makes it easy for patients to pay without logging into a full portal.

  • You can share the link proactively for outstanding balances and payment plans.

  • No login credentials or registration are needed—just basic patient info (first name, last name, DOB).

If your practice would like to activate or customize the Public Payment Portal, please contact your PbN Customer Success Manager.
