As a dental practice owner, it can be challenging to identify which marketing efforts are driving the most new patients to your practice. Is it a Google search, your Yelp or Facebook page, or perhaps a direct mail campaign? Marketing IQ makes it easier by allowing you to track calls using unique call-tracking numbers for each marketing source.
By assigning unique phone numbers to each marketing source, you can pinpoint which sources are most effective in bringing new patients to your practice. This way, you can measure the performance of each marketing channel accurately.

Let's go through these steps in detail:
1. Buy a Number
Navigate to Settings and click on Call Tracking Phone Numbers.
Click on Buy Phone Numbers.
Enter the desired area code in the search box to see available numbers.
Click Buy next to the number you wish to purchase.
Click Go back to return to the Your Phone Numbers page.
Note: The maximum number of call tracking numbers you can purchase depends on your Marketing IQ subscription level (small, medium, or large).
2. Assign the Number to a Referral Source
Select the referral source from the drop-down menu next to the number. For instance, choose Facebook if tracking calls from Facebook.
Click Set Referrer and select the same referral source. This step ensures that the referring website where the patient first discovered your office is tracked.
3. Update the Call Tracking Number on the Referral Source
For example, if you are using Facebook:
Go to your Facebook page.
Update the number in the About section and the Call Now section.
4. Insert the Call Tracking Script on the Office Website
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Get Referral Tracking Script.
Click on Copy Script and send it to your webmaster to insert on your website.
The script will dynamically replace the number on your website with the unique referral source number when a patient clicks on your website link. The unique call tracking number will consistently display for the user each time they visit your site, even if they return from a different source later.
Note: There is only one call tracking script for the office.
5. Test and Track Calls Coming on That Number
Test:
Open a new incognito window in your web browser (e.g., Google Chrome).
Go to your office's Facebook page and click on your website link in the About section.
Verify that the Facebook number is dynamically inserted on your website.
Track:
Monitor the calls made on the Facebook number by going to the Leads section on the Home page of the Marketing IQ module.
By following these steps, you can effectively assign and track call tracking numbers to various referral sources, helping you understand which marketing strategies are most successful in attracting new patients to your dental practice.
